Prominently situated on picturesque Bertner Avenue in the Texas Medical Center, the Methodist Hospital Research Institute is dedicated to translational research. The 12-story facility contains six floors of open research space housing a variety of laboratories and support spaces that combine to form a collaborative research facility for the study of infectious diseases.The building includes 440,000 square feet of laboratory facilities and state of the art equipment.

KPF served as the Design Architect for this assignment, leading the planning and architectural design for the base building core and shell. WHR Architects served as the Architect of Record. The project this team created incorporated stone from Portogaul to create a clean welcoming environment which promotes interaction and creativity. The material has varied finishes. The exterior texture is chiseled while the interior vertical surfaces are honed.
